Crushed rock is similar to gravel, in that it comes in a variety of sizes and can be used in a number of different applications. Most commonly, crushed rock is used underground as a base for concrete pours, as backfill, or for drainage systems and pipe bedding.

Larger crushed rock is often used for landscaped paths or garden beds; though its rougher edges make it un-ideal for running paths or playgrounds.
